Wait for it, yes that’s right, the legend that is Robbie McIntosh (Pretenders, Paul McCartney, John Mayer) Mega talented Gus Robertson (Razorlight) and the phenomenal Steve Smith (Gordon Haskell & Sandi Thom). He went into hiding at Chapel studios and recorded this fantastic collection of songs that is due for release later this year!!

So where did it all begin? James is very open and explained to Rizer, it all started five years ago when the London based band he was playing in to packed venues up and down the country and abroad split up. The break up was sadly caused by the unexplained sudden death of his sister who was the co-founder and a performer in the band. It was a time to re-evaluate and for James to come away from the public eye.

A year later Peter Junge an award winning producer and recording engineer invited James down to the studio… James showed up with his guitar and played 50+ songs that Peter recorded in a one-take demo; by the end of that day they had agreed to start making the album.

The timing was right and everything started happening for him, from his 2015 Charity Single “I say save Orang-Utans” hitting number four in the iTunes video chart, to Robbie McIntosh wanting to play on the record… Fast forward a couple of years with the help of some awesome musicians, a talented producer and everyone else involved the James Broughton debut solo album “Love Riot” was created!

James also tells me there are lots of exciting things in the pipeline and we here at Rizer are the first to get the details as soon as they are confirmed!

Don’t tell anyone but I’ll let you into one of the secrets (naughty I know) James will be playing a taster set from his new album in an intimate show later this year in London.

Oh and one last thing please keep an eye out for Rizer’s exclusive interview with James in the not so distant future! You heard it first from here ok!
